Norman Parkinson- Flash and location...

Norman Parkinson and the rear flash.
Norman Parkison is a photographic god; a fashion legend. His knowledge and interpretation of light is something I personally admire greatly, and it is because of this, that I have chosen to look further into his style of photographing. This photograph in particular was perhaps one of the first fashion photographs I had ever seen that used a rear flash to evoke a unique and realistic sense of movement and life.

What I admire most about Parkinson is his ability to show his subjects true form and character. He is portraying them for who they truly are rather than having them blankly stare into the camera...
My main aim throughout this project as a whole is to do the exact same but with my own twisted style/approach.

Lucie Crewdson fashion workshop.

For my second project/workshop I will be pursuing my initial and constant exploration of fashion photography. However, due to this aspect of photography being one of my stronger focal points, my intentions with regards to this short project is to get even further out of my comfort zone…
However, as I am yet to decide what idea/ideas will dominate this unit of work, I will also continue shooting models and clothes every week, just as I normally do. Maybe it will be through this that a mistake or act of spontinuity will allow a new idea to become exposed?
