Exploring the wonders of fashion through books is always a delight. Throughout my last library session I found a series of books titles 'Photographs of America'. Within these books a variety of photographic style and approached were exemplified, ranging from landscape to portraiture, to still life to fashion. Within one of these books two photographs instantly caught my attention...
Simply titled 'exum' I admired these photographs for both their aesthetic and technical qualities. The scratched nature of the negative alongside what appears to be a make shift backdrop instantly reinforces the gritty as a thematic approach. The dead and almost emotionless expressions on each of the models face is supported by the photographs presentation...they look almost evil.
Death stares are something I may consider using within my photographs.
Lately I have been drawing inspiration from everything around me. Bishop Nehru is a young yet exceptionally talented hip hop artistic from New York, his lyrics inspire me to achieve my goals without hesitation or fear. Although I am not really focusing on the fashion of singers/dj's this is something I would like to perhaps shoot throughout the coming week.
The colours of the analogue film allow Nehru to stand strong against the view of Brooklyn Bridge...the city will soon be his.
"If I can make it here I can make it anywhere".
