Studio Experimentation- Amy

Within this studio session I decided to focus on my use of colour to reinforce a particular mood or attitude. Bold tones of black alongside a solid red background allowed me to draw the viewers attention directly to Amy's facial expression; attitude with a hint of anger.
I created the red background using the coloured gels available within the studio. However, in order to allow the background to appear a solid red with very little tonal variation I used a honeycomb filter. In a similar sense, I also used another honeycomb filter (this one slightly larger) with a hint of blue to fill in Amy's face. The whole point of this experimentation was to explore the attitudes which are evoked by fashion photography, after all if there is so form of emotion from the model, the clothes often appear lifeless and uninteresting- By focusing on achieving a unique sense of emotion within each of my photographs the clothes will immediately have more of an impact when viewed.

In response to this, I intend to photograph a male model using the same lighting approach. However, I would like to explore other forms of emotion before thinking too much about the clothes being used.
